Today, we accompanied some friends on a visit to the beautiful Liffey Falls. Although it was cool and damp, we enjoyed a beautiful bush walk along a pathway through the forest that winds along the banks of the Liffey River. We had a delicious picnic lunch and we shared some devotions with our friends from Devonport and our friends from Nepal.

Our son Caleb and his daughter Hespa are visiting this weekend so we decided to do the the Punchbowl Reserve because our youngest grandson, Fergus enjoyed feeding the ducks that live by the pond in the reserve.We met our son Raf, Evie and Fergus at the Punchbowl. Fergus enjoyed feeding the ducks and he enjoyed playing with his cousin, Hespa.

In 1963, I spent my first year as a teacher at Currie, King Island. I shared a house with 3 other young single male teachers. One of them was Henry. So ... our association goes back quite a few years. Henry introduced me to the Field Naturalists group on the island and through that group I learnt a great deal about the flora, fauna, geology and the history of King Island.

Today we went to Scottsdale to attend the funeral of our uncle, Norman Frost. Toby drove up from Hobart and traveled to Scottsdale with us. It was a good opportunity for Toby to meet his great aunt Iris Charleston for the first time.

This morning we had a visit from Toby, Nicole and Edie. We put a basket outside on the side deck with a nice juicy carrot in it. Amazingly, when we checked about 30 minutes later, the carrot had gone and the basket was full of chocolate eggs and even a box with 4 egg cups and chocolate eggs.

Quite unexpectedly, I found myself in hospital for 24 hours while we were visiting Hobart at the weekend. While I was attending a meeting, I experienced some intense pains in my upper body and arms, so I went to emergency at the hospital and was admitted for tests and observation.

There has been a lot of rain fall on Tasmania during the past week, consequently the gorge in Launceston is currently quite spectacular with the flood waters rushing down the South Esk River into the Tamar.

During my visit with Agatha on Flinders Island, I visited some sites near Whitemark. Walker's Lookout provides an excellent opportunity to view some beautiful parts of the island.During my brief visit to the look out, it was a little cloudy, so I did not get to see Mt Strezlecki. However, I did get to have a close encounter with a young wombat!

We have had quite a lot of rain in recent days, consequently the South Esk river that runs through the Gorge reserve has some extra water running through it. It is quite a spectacular site when the extra waters spills over the Trevallyn dam and provides us with some idea of how the river often looked before the dam was constructed.

We saw this excellent movie at the State Theatre in North Hobart. A very moving and beautifully made movie directed by the famous Andrzej Wajda. Katyn is about the murder of thousands of Polish officers by the Soviet Scret Police during World War 2; among those killed was Wajda's own father.
