We were invited to join a group of friends to pay a visit to Zippori National park. some of us travelled in a sherut while others went in private cars. It is a 45 minute trip from Haifa, and it situated quite close to Nazareth.
The remains of a magnificent city are located on a hill in the western Lower Galilee. It is called Zippori because it is 'perched' on top of a mountain like a bird.
Like most of the ancient sites located throughout the country, the site has had a succession of groups of people and cultures living there.
The mosaics that have been uncovered at various locations at this site are among the most beautiful to be found in Israel.
There is also a small theatre, a fortress, an ancient water reservoir and the remains of a network of streets.
