A visit to the South Arthur Forest - 'Kanunnah'

We arranged to meet a Baha'i friend at Lake Chisholm at lunchtime today. On the way, we decided to explore some of the sites on the edge of the Tarkine forest.
First stop was the Kanunnah Bridge which crosses the Arthur River. The blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) trees on these river banks are the largest, tallest and straightest in the world. 'Kanunnah' was once thought to be an aboriginal name for the Tasmanian Tiger. Some locals believe that the tiger still roams in these forests.
