Vale Barbara Payne

Barbara was a friend who lead an amazing life of service.

Noel and I first met Barbara and her husband Stan in 1965 when we joined the staff of Riverside High School. Barbara and her husband Stan had their two eldest children, Anna and Richard, attending the school.

In later years I worked with Stan when we were both members of the staff of the School of Teacher Education at the Launceston CAE/ TSIT and University of Tasmania.
Barbara and Stan have two other daughters, Rachel and Sarah.

Barbara was, at one time, Mayor of Launceston. She was the second woman to achieve this position. She held office or was a member of about 20 different organisations.
