A visit to Bahji, near Akka

Baha'u'llah, the founder of the Baha'i Faith spent much of His final years living in a Mansion at Bahji, just outside the ancient city of Akka, even though He was still formally a prisoner of the Ottoman Empire.

Baha'u'llah passed away on May 29th, 1892 in the Mansion at Bahji and His resting place in a building adjacent to the mansion is known as the Shrine of Baha'u'llah. It is the Most Holy Place on earth for Baha'is - their Qiblih, the location that Baha'is should face when saying their daily obligatory prayers.

We spent some time in the Shrine of Baha'u'llah, before walking around some parts of the extensive, beautiful gardens that surround the Shrine and the Mansion.
