Around Lanhydrock

Lanhydrock was the home of the Agar-Robartes family until 1953. After a fire in 1881, the original Jacobean house was refashioned to create a Victorian home with the latest technology. As one explores the house and garden it is possible to have an idea of the contrast between the elegant world of the family and the network of kitchens where the army of servants worked. The gardens laid out by George Gilbert Scott, surround the house. The whole estate covers 900 acres and is a romantic, pastoral backdrop to the house and garden with many footpaths to explore the beautiful woodlands and Fowey River.
