Barley Close Farm

As Barley Close Farm B&B was in the country near the village of Hawkchurch, we had to drive along very narrow country lanes that have loads of bracken, fox gloves, Queen Anne's Lace and all kinds of lush growth of various wild herbs and flowers growing either side. With very few straight sections it can be difficult to know when and if one might meet another vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
We located the B&B and the delightful owner, Janet (www.barleyclosefarm.co.uk) thanks to the directions she has posted on the website. We soon moved in and then following her careful directions, we made our way on foot to the local pub for an evening meal The pub is located in Hawkchurch village and it is almost directly opposite the beautiful old church. As we were walking along the lane towards the pub, we even saw a squirrel or two racing along the lane in front of us.
After the traditional roast beef dinner, we continued walking along the lane through the main part of the small village and by the time we reached the B&B we had completed a circuit around the area. We enjoyed another chat with Janet before doing some diary writing before we went to bed.
