Ardress House is situated quite close to the southern shores of Lough Neagh, so we decided to go and visit. The house was originally a simple late 17th century building which was extended and embelished by successive generations until it arrived at its current Georgian character. It was the home of the Clarke and Ensor families until it was acquired by the National Trust in 1960. The estate with its farmyard , orchards and gardens make it a beautiful setting for a prosperous mid-Ulster farmhouse.
