Blarney Castle

We set off from Kenmare and headed for Cork. On the way, we spent some time at Blarney Castle ... and yes ... we both did kiss the Blarney Stone ... even though we had to line up for about 20 minutes to get to follow this tradition. Little remains of the actual castle except the keep which was built in 1446 by Dermot McCarthy. Its design is typical of a 15th century tower hose. The vaulted first floor was once the Great Hall.
