Framed by views of Bantry Bay, the island is landscaped with Neo-Classical follies. Many of the plants are subtropical and we even found an example of the famous Huon Pine that is a very slow growing native plant from Tasmania. We explored the beautiful gardens where we saw ferns from New Zealand, a Japanese style rockery and a rare collection of Bonsai trees as well as azaleas and rhododendrons. The central attraction is a colonnaded Italianate garden with a Classical style folly and a lily pool. A very beautiful place to visit.
