Kenmare Stone Circle

This stone circle is located in the town itself, only a short walk from the Cromwell Bridge. Stone circles such as this one were built during the Bronze age (2200-500BC). They were built for ritual and ceremonial purposes. The Kenmare Stone Circle is unusual in that there is a Dolmen boulder sited in the centre of the circle. Dolmen stones are usually associated with burial.
