Dorothy, Gordon and Butterton House

As we were running a little late, I phoned Dorothy and Gordon to apologise - but they were not at all concerned and they invited us to join them for the evening meal.
They are the most generous and delightful couple that we first visited in 1998. I met them as result of family history research and Dorothy is nee Broomhall. Their house at Weston near Crewe is very neat and they have many bird nesting boxes on the fence around their garden which backs onto green fields. Dorothy and Gordon love to chat and Dorothy insisted that we tell them all about our trip so far while Gordon was busy in the kitchen preparing a 3 course meal.
Summer in England is great as it does not get dark until around 10PM so we had time after dinner to continue chatting before we set off in search of 'Butterton House' which is the B&B we had previously booked on the internet.
Butterton House is operated by Sarah Jealouse who grew up in the beautiful old house and she later raised her own family there before turning it into a B&B. It is the best B&B we have ever stayed in and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting that area.
The website is : www.buttertonhouse.co.uk
The room we had was huge and nicely furnished with views down across the vast back lawns and tennis court. We were served breakfast in a large downstairs dining area on beautifully decorated china. It is certainly the grandest B&B we have ever discovered. Sarah is a delightful and generous host.
