Glendalough

We set off from Dublin to visit our friend Alan Keane in Kilkenny. We decided to spend sometime at Glendalough on the way south. Last time we visited Glendalough, 8 years ago, the weather was rather wet so we thought we'd like to revisit on a sunny day. Glendalough is a valley of two lakes and it is renowned for its Early Medieval monastic settlement founded by St.Kevin in the 6th century. It is a beautiful setting and we enjoyed exploring the unique gateway entrance, the round tower, the cathedral and the remains of several other buildings including churches and a priests house. We walked up a path beside a small stream that leads to the two lakes.
